Roof insulation vs attic insulation — what’s the difference?

Attic insulation sits on the attic floor and is ideal when the roof space is unused. Roof insulation works at the roof line itself — between and under the rafters — and is the right choice when you want a warm, usable room in the roof, when you have a flat roof, or on commercial buildings where the roof is the main heat-loss path. We’ll advise which approach suits your building.

Systems we install

  • Warm roof systems — insulation above or at rafter level for usable, warm roof spaces
  • Rafter-level insulation for room-in-roof conversions and dormers
  • Flat roof insulation for extensions and commercial buildings
  • Commercial and industrial roof insulation at scale

The benefits

  • Stops the largest single source of heat loss in most buildings
  • Creates warm, usable space in the roof
  • Improves comfort, energy performance and compliance
